Bus passengers use rope to pull themselves to safety as floods hit Kenya’s Mombasa

Heavy rain battered the streets of the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa, with some passengers being pulled from a flooded bus by ropes amid chest-high water.

Others stood on top of the bus with umbrellas and raincoats as they waited their turn in Kisoni district, about 500 kilometers (310 miles) from the capital, Nairobi.

At least 46 people have died in flood-related incidents in Kenya since the rainy season began less than a month ago, according to the aid group Save the Children. There is a chance in increase of casualties.

Torrential rains followed by flash floods inundated entire towns in East Africa, leaving people homeless.

With his house submerged, Bambi shuts down the rest of the town and blames the government for the failure.

Abu Bakr Abdullah said that we are forced to help our neighbors when the water in our house is being destroyed. "We don't know how the next night will pass."
