On the International Day of People with Disabilities,

The United States reiterates its commitment to collaborating with other nations and doing our share to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted by the UN in 2015, on this International Day of Persons with Disabilities. We emphasize that the successful execution of Agenda 2030 depends on the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide are classified as disabled, with the majority residing in developing nations (80%). The United States aims to assist disability advocates who work to ensure that people with disabilities can enjoy their human rights, building on many decades of progress made to advance their rights and general well-being. The Department of State will keep pursuing disability-inclusive diplomacy globally and striving to protect the rights of people with disabilities.
